On becoming 40...

In the mid morning hours at 9:56 am long ago, a young lady named Ann delivered a little baby girl, her first born weighing

8 lbs. 3 oz. Her Daddy and Momma prepared a nursery with the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy theme. Momma sewed some red striped curtains with ric-rack, Daddy painted the nursery and painted and installed the little red shutters...

On becoming 40...

Happy Birthday to my Daddy! He was just a young 25 when I was born those 40 years ago...

I love you Dad!

I remember Dunkin' Donuts, pushes to the moon on the swing,

trail bike rides in our back yard, family night

and your reading of the word of God to me even at a very young age!

Fresh summer meals on the farm! All grown right here!

We "grew our own bread" last year! Here is spelt loaves cooling on the stove top Zukes, heirloom tomatoes, goat's cheese, peppers, garlic, nasturtiums and fresh herbs! homemade from our goat's milk,
garlic scapes! Have you ever tried these sweet things? Wonderfully delicious sauteed it our fermented raw butter or olive oil...
A summer place setting!
and last but not least, our herb encrusted quails! These are a lot of work to pluck and clean, just sayin'!
Now where is our kombucha?

Our seamstress in residence completed sewing project on the treadle

Here is the completed "nature bag" that our 10 year-old seamstress in residence completed for her little sis! You can see our seamstress sewing the bag on the treadle here

Our little "goat girl" has been enjoying putting her finds from the outdoors in this little bag! A feather here, a special stone there and more...

Our artist in residence here at the farm

She is just 17 years old. This entire year she has independently studied from The Handbook of Nature Study authored by Anna Botsford Comstock I purchased this book when she was a wee 6 years old to incorporate The Charlotte Mason nature study into our home school... I guess it stuck to her then...
She created this beautiful setting on our fireplace mantle. She collected these nature specimens from the farm while on her own nature walks, sometimes with a small sibling in tow. She incorporated an antique weather barometer and her Great Grandmother's antique bunny as well...
I was blown away when I saw what she had done. To God be the glory! I can't wait to see what she is up to next...
